Experience and Skills
Ligonier Valley Marching Band
(2014-2020)
I participated in my high school's marching band from 7th grade to 12th grade. In my senior year, I was appointed as the brass section leader, putting me in a leadership position. I worked with fellow brass players who ranged in year from 8th grade to 11th grade. I helped improve their tone and the effectiveness of their practice sessions at home. This shows that I can lead practice sessions and effectively teach techniques to potential students.
Undergraduate
Voice Lessons
(2020-2024)
I took private voice lessons from Dr. Maureen Miller throughout my education at Seton Hill University. Through these voice lessons, I expanded my range and learned how to warm up and cool down vocally. I have also been taught invaluable lessons on tone, timbre, and relative pitch. Under the Performance tab, you will find an up-to-date list of every piece I prepared while studying under Dr. Miller.
Undergraduate
Composition Lessons
(2022-2024)
I worked with Dr. Mark A. Boyle in private composition lessons for five semesters. I have written four complete works during these five semesters. You can learn more about these pieces through the Compositions page found under the "Career" tab.
Setonia: The Treble Choir of Seton Hill University
(2020-2021; 2023-2024)
I was a member of Setonia, the treble ensemble, on and off since I began my education at Seton Hill University. I had to leave the choir for the 2022 Spring semester as well as the 2022-2023 academic year due to my academic load. I was an Alto in Setonia, or an Alto II as needed.
Una Voce: The Chamber Choir of Seton Hill University
(2020-2024)
I was a member of Una Voce, the mixed chamber ensemble, through the entire duration of my education at Seton Hill University. Una Voce is an auditioned choir that typically has more performance opportunities than the other choirs. Una Voce went on a tour of the Greensburg/Pittsburgh area during the 2023 Spring semester. We performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June 2023. This performance is explained in more detail in the Performances page under the "Career" tab. I was an Alto in Una Voce, or an Alto II as needed.
St. Cecilia Ringers: The Handbell Choir of Seton Hill University
(2023, 2024)
I was a member of the St. Cecilia Ringers during the 2023 and 2024 Fall semesters. The St. Cecilia Ringers works toward performing at the Christmas concert/service every Fall semester. I was in charge of 4 bells in 2023: D-flat, D-natural, E-flat, and E-natural. I was in charge of 3 bells in 2024: B-flat, B-natural, and C-natural. While in this ensemble, I learned a lot about the technique needed for bell choirs. I also strengthened some basic musicianship skills, such as sight-reading and subdividing.
Westmoreland Symphonic Winds Student Conductor
(2023)
During the 2023 Fall semester, I was asked to be the student conductor for the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds. This is the wind ensemble at Seton Hill University. The musicians in this ensemble ranged from juniors in high school to retired performers and music educators. I led the rehearsals for the piece I was given to work on.
Harmony I & II Tutor
(2021-2022)
I was chosen to tutor the Harmony I and II classes during the 2021-2022 academic year. I held both in-person and online sessions individually. I also hosted larger study parties with the other tutor. This role demonstrates that I can manage my time very well. I can also manage a learning environment effectively, whether that is with just one tutee or several tutees.
Aural Theory III & IV Tutor
(2022-2023)
I was chosen to tutor those in Aural Theory III and IV for the 2022-2023 academic year. I offered assistance via appointments with students. Through this tutoring opportunity, I have learned to manage my time effectively so that I have time for appointments. I have also learned how to efficiently and effectively schedule meetings with tutees.
Music History Tutor
(2023-2024)
I was chosen to tutor the students in music history courses during the 2023-2024 academic year. I also tutored for this course in the Fall 2024 semester. In this position, I held drop-in tutoring hours for the students to meet with me. I also took appointments with students outside of these drop-in hours. The main activity I did for the students was review sessions before every major test. Through this tutoring opportunity, I have strengthened my communication skills through discussions with the professor and the students, my time management skills through fitting review sessions and appointments into narrow windows of time and still getting through everything, and my teaching skills through giving study strategies.
Church Chorister
(2023-Present)
I have worked with the Latrobe Presbyterian Church's director of music, Michael Long, several times. I first sang with his choir on November 19, 2023. After that, I let him know that I could substitute as needed. I sang with them again on April 14, May 12, and May 19, 2024. In August 2024, Mr. Long asked me to sing with the choir full-time. I have been with the ensemble since September 8, 2024 and will be through the 2024-2025 season. While singing with this ensemble, I have gotten plenty of opportunities to practice my sight-singing as well as my choral singing.
